6,724 Health Ministry officers promoted, including acting appointments

PETALING JAYA: A total of 6,724 Health Ministry officers have been approved for acting appointments and promotions to senior public service positions, including Public Service Main Positions (JUSA) and Grades 10 to 15.

The approvals were granted by the Public Service Promotion Board on Oct 13, involving officers from various service schemes, the Health Ministry said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 17).

Separately, four ministry officers who died in a helicopter crash while on duty with the Flying Doctor Service (PDU) on Sept 8 in Miri have been approved for posthumous promotions.

"The promotions were in recognition of their service and sacrifices while serving the public.

"It is part of ongoing efforts to recognise officers’ commitment, dedication and achievements in ensuring smooth operations and effective healthcare delivery to the public," the statement read.

In line with improvements to career progression under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), the board also approved the Excellence Criteria for Promotion Without Vacant Posts for the ministry’s Teaching Service Scheme.

The approval would provide the officers concerned with better career progression opportunities, it added.

The ministry said such recognition would serve as a catalyst for continued excellence and strengthen officers’ commitment to realising the country’s aspiration for a quality, sustainable and responsive healthcare system.

It added that the ministry would continue to review and implement improvements to ensure the welfare and career development of its officers remained a priority.
