Haze: Selangor schools open on Oct 16, barring outdoor activities

PETALING JAYA: All schools in Selangor will operate as usual on Friday (Oct 16), the Selangor Education Department has announced.

However, all outdoor activities remain postponed amid the current haze.

The department said students attending school are encouraged to wear face masks as a precaution.

“Parents who are concerned about their children’s health due to the haze may choose not to send them to school.

“However, they must inform the school of their children’s absence,” it said in a statement on Thursday.

The department said it and school administrators will regularly monitor the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings issued by the department, with particular attention given to high-risk students.

Parents and guardians are advised to refer to the department’s official communication channels or their respective schools for accurate and up-to-date information.
