Dzulkefly humbly says sorry for talking during Dewan Rakyat proceedings

KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stood up and bowed in apology after Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor reprimanded him for chatting during Dewan Rakyat proceedings.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Oct 15) while Deputy Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin was answering a question.

Ramli interrupted the proceedings to remind Dzulkefly and another MP seated beside him to stop their conversation and allow the deputy minister to continue.

"Deputy Minister, please pause for a moment. Let’s allow the minister and the other MP to continue their conversation," he said, like a teacher telling off students for talking during class.

Ramli then advised the two MPs to take their discussion outside if it was important.

According to the parliamentary livestream, Dzulkefly immediately stood up and bowed apologetically, explaining that the MP beside him was conveying concerns raised by constituents.

Ramli responded with humour, saying he, too, had many matters brought to him by his own constituents, but they could wait.

"If you’re speaking softly, that’s fine. But I can hear your conversation all the way from here. Why don’t you take it outside, all right?" he said.
