Activist Tamim Dahri, two others nabbed over vandalism at Jln Klang Lama temple

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested three individuals, including activist Tamim Dahri Abdul Razak, to assist in investigations into a vandalism case at a temple in Jalan Klang Lama here.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said police received two reports in connection with the Oct 6 incident.

"Four statues were reported to have been damaged in the incident, but the total losses are still under investigation.

"All the suspects were arrested in Beranang, Selangor, at about 11am on Sunday (Oct 11)," he said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 15), addressing media queries if Tamim Dahri was among those arrested.

Comm Fadil said all three were remanded for three days to assist in investigations.

He added that the investigation papers had been submitted to the state prosecution office for further action.

"The case is being investigated under Section 295 of the Penal Code for defiling a place of worship with the intention of insulting religion," he said.

Previously, media reports said the activist, who campaigns against illegal temples, and his brother had been arrested in connection with the incident.

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has urged police to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
