AN 86-year-old tau fu fah seller donated RM100,000 to a secondary school in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, reported Sin Chew Daily.

Known locally as the “tau fu fah uncle”, Hong Zhong Wei operated a small stall along Jalan Tuanku Munawir for more than half a century, selling the bean curd dessert.

Despite his modest living, Hong often supported charitable causes.

On this occasion, he donated RM100,000 to SMJK Chan Wa to construct a new administration and teaching block.

School board chairman Datuk Oh Kok Khim commended Hong for his generosity, which was motivated by his hope that children should have the opportunity for a good education.

“His gesture embodies a spirit and a legacy that society should cherish and learn from,” Oh said during a ceremony held at the school.
