GUA MUSANG: The challenging journey across remote terrain has not deterred the National Registration Department (NRD) from ensuring that the Orang Asli community in Pos Balar has access to documentation services, in line with its principle of “Rakyat di Hati JPN” (The People at the Heart of JPN).
NRD director-general Datuk Badrul Hisham Alias said the department’s responsibility went beyond providing services such as issuing birth certificates, as it also involved fulfilling its trust and commitment to the people despite various difficulties.
He said the principle of “Rakyat di Hati JPN” must be reflected in the dedication of its personnel to ensuring that services reached communities in need, without using the challenges of travelling to remote areas as an excuse to neglect their responsibilities.
“Our duty is not just to issue birth certificates.
“We have been entrusted to carry out this responsibility and must not make things difficult for the people,” he said.
He was speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the Registration Literacy programme held in conjunction with the state-level 78th National Registration Day celebration, Bernama reported.
He said the journey to Pos Balar, here, takes about three hours under favourable road conditions, but the journey could take longer depending on the conditions along the route.
He also shared his experience of an assignment in Pos Gob, which took between 12 and 14 hours to reach, highlighting the challenges faced by NRD personnel in carrying out their duties in remote areas.
Badrul Hisham also reminded all personnel to prioritise their personal safety, ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, and take the necessary precautions to prevent untoward incidents.
He said safety must be given due attention from the start of the journey until arrival at the destination, as conditions that appeared favourable at one location might not be the same further along the route.
The journey to Pos Balar involves the cooperation of Kelantan NRD, the Gua Musang NRD office, four-wheel drive teams and relevant parties, who will work together to ensure the success of the two-day programme.
