PETALING JAYA: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer-actress Bella Astillah are now husband and wife.

Bella, whose real name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, 32, and Syed Saddiq, 33, were solemnised in a ceremony held at Level 118 of Menara Merdeka Maybank by former Federal Territories mufti Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

The ceremony was attended by family members as well as the couple’s closest friends.

Syed Saddiq presented his bride with mas kahwin (dowry) of RM500 and seven trays of wedding gifts, which were reciprocated with nine trays from Bella.

Among the gifts from Syed Saddiq were Employees Provident Fund savings worth RM100,000 via the i-Simpan facility, an umrah package and gold fashioned in the shape of Mount Kinabalu.

Bella reciprocated with nine trays of gifts, including a custom-made ring, an e-book and glasses, a copy of the Quran, and an entry to the Ultraman Australia 2027 endurance run.

The ceremony was broadcast live on television and Astro’s social media platforms.

Both wore matching white outfits incorporating Arabic and Islamic design elements.

Among guests present to witness the union were former prime ministers Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was also present.

After the ceremony, Syed Saddiq expressed his gratitude and happiness at tying the knot with Bella.

He admitted that he had been extremely nervous while reciting his marriage vows, despite normally being confident when participating in parliamentary debates.

He said the emotions he experienced during the solemnisation ceremony were difficult to describe and his hands trembled throughout the ceremony.

“I have no problem debating in Parliament but I was just so nervous. My fingers were trembling.

“When Datuk Seri Zulkifli declared the marriage valid, (there was a feeling of) extraordinary, incomparable happiness. I am now the husband to my love, Bella,” he said, reported mStar, The Star’s Malay-language portal.

Syed Saddiq also expressed his gratitude to their supporters who had consistently offered their prayers and well wishes since the beginning of their relationship.

Meanwhile, Bella said she was happy that their wedding went smoothly and thanked everyone who had supported and prayed for them throughout their relationship.

Bella has two children from her previous marriage to Singapore-born singer Aliff Aziz – Mohamed Ayden Adrean, nine, and Ara Adreanna, six.
