Egyptian President El-Sisi departs for home after two-day state visit


SEPANG: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has departed Malaysia after concluding his two-day state visit at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan İbrahim, King of Malaysia.

The special aircraft carrying El-Sisi took off from the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 4.38pm on Saturday (Oct 10).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin were present to bid farewell to the Egyptian leader.

Earlier, El-Sisi inspected a guard of honour mounted by officers and personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment, led by Captain Muhammad Nafis Norshid.

A cultural performance by the Istana Budaya arts troupe was held to mark El-Sisi's departure, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Malaysia's multiracial society through traditional dances and musical performances featuring traditional instruments. – Bernama
