AKPS seizes 83 tonnes of Mongolian tallow worth over RM310,000 at Pasir Gudang Port

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has seized 83,000kg of animal fat (inedible tallow oil) worth RM310,606.26 from Mongolia at Pasir Gudang Port.

AKPS said the seizure of the agricultural commodity trade consignment comprising four flexitanks was the result of an inspection by enforcement officers at 10am on Friday (Oct 9).

"The goods were found to have been imported without an import permit as required under current laws and regulations. As such, the consignment has been detained for further investigation," it said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 10).

AKPS stressed that any non-compliance or attempt to import goods through the country's entry points without valid documentation constitutes an offence under Section 11(1) of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011.

Upon conviction, those involved could be fined up to RM100,000 or jailed for up to six years, or both. – Bernama
