Schools in three Perak districts ordered to close immediately due to haze

IPOH: All schools and educational institutions in Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan and Kuala Kangsar have been ordered to close with immediate effect due to the haze.

Perak Education Department director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar said the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at the CA11A monitoring station in Tasek, Ipoh, reached 180 at 11am on Friday (Oct 9).

He said schools would conduct Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) to ensure pupils' education continued during the closure.

Teachers and support staff would also work from home throughout the closure period, subject to current instructions and operational requirements.

"Parents and guardians have been advised to follow official announcements by the Perak Education Department regarding the reopening of schools," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 9).

Zulkafli also urged schools to continue monitoring the situation and prioritise the safety, health and welfare of pupils and the education community.
