Budget 2027: RM2.5bil allocated for federal road upkeep

PETALING JAYA: RM2.5bil has been allocated to maintain federal roads under Budget 2027, including nearly RM800mil specifically for G1 to G4 contractors.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said RM40mil had also been set aside to empower district engineers to speed up small-scale projects, including pothole repairs.

For state roads, RM5.7bil has been allocated through the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) fund to support repair and maintenance works.

The government will also reintroduce the Variation of Price (VOP) clause to help contractors offset increases in diesel and bitumen costs.
