Budget 2027: Over RM20bil allocation for Home Ministry reflects govt's commitment to peace, public order, says Saifuddin Nasution

PETALING JAYA: The allocation of over RM20bil for the Home Ministry reflects the government’s commitment in prioritising peace and public order, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

"Allocations for welfare, strengthening security assets, enhancing border control capabilities and leveraging technology to combat crime demonstrate that public safety and national sovereignty cannot be compromised.

"A peaceful country gives the people confidence to go about their daily lives with peace of mind, while creating a conducive environment for business, investment and tourism,” the Home Minister said in a statement on Budget 2027.

He added that a robust national economy served as a catalyst for a more prosperous Malaysia and that the economic growth, trade and investment performance outlined in the budget presentation provide grounds for confidence in Malaysia’s economic position.

"However, this success must translate into more quality jobs, higher incomes, business opportunities and better control over the cost of living.

"In conclusion, Budget 2027 conveys a clear message: the people must be protected, the country must remain peaceful, and the economy must continue to be strengthened.

"Welfare is difficult to sustain without stability; peace without prosperity is insufficient; while economic growth that does not deliver tangible benefits to the people falls short of the true objectives of development. The challenge ahead is to ensure that every allocation is implemented efficiently, transparently and effectively so that its benefits genuinely reach the people.

"This is the foundation for building a Malaysia that is more prosperous, safe and competitive,” he said.

In the Budget 2027 tabling earlier Friday (Oct 9) by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim it was announced that both the Home Ministry and the Defence Ministry had been allocated RM22bil.

A total of RM7.1bil has also been allocated for the purchase and maintenance of assets for the Armed Forces as well as for the police and uniformed agencies under the Home Ministry.
