PETALING JAYA: The Home Ministry and Defence Ministry will receive an allocation of RM22bil each under Budget 2027.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said RM7.1bil would be allocated for the purchase and maintenance of assets for the Armed Forces, police and other uniformed agencies under Home Ministry.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said RM490mil had been allocated to the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) to further strengthen the country's border security.
"To further strengthen the country's border security, RM490mil has been allocated to AKPS.
"Security screening at airports will be tightened, including mandatory drug and alcohol tests for pilots and flight crew.
"A total of 48 new body and baggage scanners will be installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Penang International Airport and Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA)," he said when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 9).
Anwar also announced several new facilities, including the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency's headquarters in Tanjung Kupang, Johor.
"Other projects include the 19th General Operations Force Battalion Complex in Cheras, the Keningau Immigration Office in Sabah and three new police stations in Sungai Rambai, Melaka; Tanjung Malim, Perak; and Batu Lintang, Sri Aman, Sarawak," he said.
In efforts to combat online crime, Anwar said Bukit Aman's Sexual, Women and Child Investigation Division (D11) would strengthen the Malaysia Internet Crime Against Children system, which is equipped with advanced analytical capabilities to detect perpetrators and child sexual exploitation networks at an earlier stage.
"The National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) will develop an artificial intelligence-powered application to enable the public to check suspicious phone numbers, bank accounts and links before making transactions," he said.
Meanwhile, Anwar said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would intensify the implementation of the Safe Internet Campaign in schools nationwide, focusing on addressing cyberbullying and child exploitation.
In another development, Anwar said 17 amphibious craft would be acquired to expedite rescue operations by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force.
Anwar also said Armed Forces personnel completing their service would be offered skills training through collaborations with institutions including the Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology and the Malaysian Maritime Academy.
