KUALA LUMPUR: An E-Commerce Bill will be tabled at the next parliamentary sitting to strengthen accountability among online platforms and sellers, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said the government was also reviewing legal and enforcement measures to protect local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from unfair competition posed by foreign e-commerce companies.
"The government takes seriously the concerns of small traders over the presence of foreign e-commerce companies entering the local market without adequate oversight and enforcement," he said when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 9).
