Two students charged with murdering schoolmate in Kuala Pilah

KUALA PILAH: A pair of Form Four boys of a sports school here were charged at the Magistrate's Court here with the murder of their Form Two schoolmate.

No plea was recorded from the duo when they were charged before judge Roslinda Razali as the matter came under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The duo were charged with murdering the 14-year-old victim at the school hostel between 7.30pm and 8.50pm on Sept 25.

They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code read together with Section 34 of the same law.

The proceedings were held in camera as both the suspects were juveniles.

Lawyer Datuk Hanif Hassan, who represented both suspects, when met later said the court has fixed Dec 7 for the next mention pending the pathology, chemical and forensic reports.

He said the defence had also applied to the court to send both suspects to a correctional centre for the time being.

"This is to allow the Welfare Department to provide them with counselling.

"This will also assist them both mentally and emotionally as provided under the Child Act 2001," he said.

The victim was found unconscious at his school hostel and immediately sent to hospital for treatment.

However, he was pronounced dead by doctors a short while later.

Police had said investigations revealed that the victim was apparently assaulted after he was caught vaping by a hostel warden a few days prior.
