KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested the owner of a private jet linked to the seizure of 521kg of drugs in Laos during a raid at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport in Subang on Wednesday (Oct 7).
He was among four suspects arrested in a joint operation involving the police, the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) and other agencies.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan (pic) said the suspect, who owns a private airline company, was arrested at noon.
He said the company owned two aircraft and offered private jet rental services.

"In this case, the aircraft in question was rented for US$49,500 (about RM202,400). The NCID is identifying the individual who made the booking for further action," he said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 8).
Comm Hussein said that following the arrest, his team also detained three other individuals at the same location for further investigation.
"All those detained are aged between 30 and 40 years and have no criminal records," he said.
On Wednesday, AKPS confirmed raiding a hangar at the airport believed to be linked to the seizure of 521kg of drugs in Laos last week.

The special operation was conducted together with the Bukit Aman NCID, Petaling Jaya police, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad auxiliary police (Avsec) and the Special Branch Travel Control Officers (TCO).
On Oct 1, Laotian police seized 521kg of crystal methamphetamine in a private jet that arrived from Subang.
Following the incident, 13 individuals, including citizens of Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines, were detained by Laotian authorities to assist in the investigation of the cross-border drug smuggling case. – Bernama
