Cops tracing client of private jet found with 500kg drugs in Laos

PETALING JAYA: The client who chartered the private plane, found with around 500kg of drugs in Laos after leaving Malaysia, is currently being sought after following the arrests of the plane’s owner and three others.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that investigations into the matter were ongoing following the arrest of the owner of the private plane company that owned the plane that was seized in Laos.

“Investigations showed that the company owned two planes and had offered private jet rentals to interested parties. In this case, the plane was rented for a payment of US$ 49,500.

“The NCID is in the midst of identifying the individual that had rented the plane. Three other people were also arrested at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport for further investigation.

“All arrested were aged between 30 and 40 years old, and do not have prior police records,” he said.

Comm Hussein previously said the 521kg of drugs seized by Laotian authorities from a private jet did not originate from Malaysia, as the drugs are believed to have been produced in Laos and were destined for Manila, the Philippines.
