Cops: Laotian jet meth not from Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: A hangar at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, believed to be linked to the seizure of 521kg of drugs in Laos last week, was raided by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

Port Klang AKPS Commander Deputy Comm Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the special operation was conducted jointly with various agencies, including the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID).

“I can confirm that there was a raid and arrests. The operation was conducted jointly. We had been planning it since yesterday, and the operation began at noon today and has since been completed,” he said when contacted.

Four individuals were reportedly arrested while preparing for a flight and handed over to the Bukit Aman NCID for further investigation. However, DCP Nik Ezanee declined to disclose details of the operation or the identities of the suspects.

NCID director Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the 521kg drugs seized by Laotian authorities from a private jet did not originate from Malaysia, as the drugs are believed to have been produced in Laos and were destined for Manila, the Philippines.
