Sabah MACC nabs senior govt officer for alleged false claims

SANDAKAN: A senior government agency officer has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sabah for allegedly submitting two documents containing false particulars in connection with claims amounting to approximately RM15,000.

The female suspect in her 30s was detained at about 10am on Tuesday (Oct 6) when she reported to the Sandakan MACC office.

It is understood that the two documents were related to claims for meeting expenses and expenses incurred during an official working visit by senior officers of her ministry.

Preliminary investigations found that the alleged offences were believed to have been committed between 2023 and 2024.

Sabah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fuad Bee Basrah confirmed the arrest.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said the suspect is expected to be charged at the Sandakan Sessions Court on Thursday.
