Eight hospitalised after car U-turns near Kota Kinabalu

KOTA KINABALU: Eight men were injured in a three-vehicle crash believed to be due to a sedan making a U-turn in Papar near here on Wednesday (Oct 7) morning.

The eight, aged between 15 and 48, sustained various levels of injuries, including fractured limbs, cuts and bruises following the 7.20am mishap along Jalan Andus.

Papar Fire Station chief Rony Sikawan said the sedan had made a U-turn before crashing into a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a motorcycle.

“The sedan comprised four victims and all sustained serious injuries,” he said.

Three men in the four-wheel-drive truck sustained minor injuries while a motorcyclist was seriously hurt, he said.

Rony said they received an emergency call at 7.38am and quickly got all victims out of the vehicles before they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

“We ceased operations on site at around 8.13am after clearing the area of all hazardous elements,” he said.

He said police are investigating the accident.
