Blaze guts 70% of car dealership office in JB


JOHOR BARU: A fire destroyed about 70% of a car dealership office along Jalan Kota Tinggi here on Wednesday (Oct 7) morning.

Johor Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about the fire at the car dealership at around 8.46am.

Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue Station operation commander Saiful Bahari Mahpop said firefighters found that the fire had involved the office and kitchen areas of the car dealership when they arrived at the scene at 8.51am.

“The fire involved the office area measuring about 30ft by 40ft and the kitchen area measuring about 15ft by 15ft.

“About 70% of the overall building was destroyed in the fire,” he said here.

Saiful Bahari added that firefighters used one 200ft hose line with two nozzles to put out the blaze, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant.

He said the fire was completely extinguished and no casualties were reported, with the operation ending at 11.28am.

A total of 25 personnel from the Johor Jaya, Tebrau and Kempas fire and rescue stations were involved in the operation.
