HONG KONG star Nick Cheung is confident about his chances of winning Best Actor at the 31st Asian Television Awards, reported Sin Chew Daily.
The 61-year-old, who started out as a TV actor, has returned to the small screen after focusing exclusively on his film career for more than two decades.
His role as a judge in the crime thriller Justice Is Mine earned him a nomination at the awards, which will be held on Nov 14.
Besides Best Actor, the series is also nominated for Best Adaptation and Best Editing.
Speaking about the nominations, Cheung said the recognition was well deserved.
“Therefore, I am certain to win Best Actor this time. Don’t be surprised when it happens,” he said.
The series follows a judge who turns to the dark side after his son is implicated in a hit-and-run involving a mafia boss’ son.
The last TV show Cheung starred in was The Last Breakthrough, a medical drama that aired in 2004.
He has since focused on building his film career, winning Best Actor in 2009 and 2014 for his roles in Beast Stalker and Unbeatable, respectively.
> China Press reported that a 43-year-old man in China lost more than 30kg in six months by replacing rice and noodles with potatoes.
Known only as Chen, the man said he lost 20kg in the first three months and his secret was that the potatoes must not be fried.
“I only steam or bake them,” he said, adding that the starchy root kept him feeling full much longer than rice.
To cut calories further, Chen said he would chill cooked potatoes in the fridge, which turned some of the carbohydrates into resistant starch that is not fully absorbed by the body.
Besides potatoes, Chen’s meals included lean meat, fish, eggs and leafy vegetables.
His “super cheap weight-loss” method has since gone viral.
