SEPANG: A 19-year-old woman was killed after the motorcycle she was riding was involved in a collision with another motorcycle and a car on Jalan Sepang/Salak at about 8.20pm on Monday (Oct 5).
Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman said the victim, riding a blue motorcycle, was believed to have collided with a black motorcycle travelling from Sungai Pelek towards Nilai.
"The black motorcycle is believed to have collided with the blue motorcycle, which at that time was travelling against the flow of traffic in the left lane of the same road.
"Following the collision, the woman was thrown off her motorcycle and landed in the right lane before she was believed to have been run over by a grey sedan travelling straight in the right lane.
"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer. The victim worked at a cattle farm in the Sepang area and did not possess a valid driving licence,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 6).
ACP Norhizam said the rider of the black motorcycle was an Indian national who worked as a cook at an eatery and was also found not to have a valid driving licence.
Meanwhile, the car driver, a man in his 20s, works as a food and beverage sector supervisor and holds a valid driving licence.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving resulting in death.
ACP Norhizam urged those who witnessed the incident or have any information related to the case to visit any nearby police station or to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Fadzil Zainol Abidin at 019-5588221 or 03-87774264.
He also advised the public against making any speculation regarding the incident to avoid interfering with the police investigation. — Bernama
