KUALA LUMPUR: Takaful Ikhlas Family Bhd and Takaful Ikhlas General Bhd, wholly-owned subsidiaries of MNRB Holdings Bhd, continue to strengthen their role as responsible Islamic financial institutions by supporting the development of the ummah in Malaysia through the distribution of RM956,200 in business zakat for the financial year ended March 31, 2025.

This initiative reflects Takaful Ikhlas’ ongoing commitment to contributing to the socioeconomic development of society and enhancing the well-being of asnaf communities through strategic collaborations with zakat institutions nationwide.

The distribution of zakat not only fulfils the company’s Shariah obligations and corporate responsibilities but also forms part of Takaful Ikhlas’ long-term commitment to supporting a more structured, inclusive and sustainable social assistance ecosystem through targeted distribution to communities in need.

“As a takaful operator instituted on the principle of ta’awun (mutual assistance) and deeply mindful of its social responsibility, Takaful Ikhlas believes that zakat is an important instrument in strengthening the well-being of the Muslim community in Malaysia,” said Takaful Ikhlas General Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin.

“This year, the business zakat contributions from Takaful Ikhlas Family and Takaful Ikhlas General were channelled to zakat institutions in the states of Sabah, Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Melaka and the Federal Territories.”

He added: “Through close collaboration with zakat institutions across these states, we are able to ensure that the assistance provided reaches those who genuinely need it and delivers a more sustainable impact on their lives.

“We view zakat distribution not merely as an obligation, but as a social investment that can help empower communities, improve the quality of life of beneficiaries and contribute to the holistic development of the ummah.”

The implementation of Takaful Ikhlas’ business zakat programme is coordinated through Ikhlas Barakah House (IBH), a Shariah-compliant fund collection and distribution platform established to expand the company’s social impact through five key focus areas: economic development, health and well-being, community empowerment, educational advancement and environmental sustainability.

The Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan received the largest allocation of zakat, with Takaful Ikhlas General distributing RM313,649.60 and Takaful Ikhlas Family contributing RM68,830.40 in business zakat.

In addition, the Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS), the Majlis Agama Islam & Adat Istiadat Melayu Kelantan (MAIK), and the Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah Darul Aman (LZNK) each received zakat distributions amounting to RM156,842.80 from Takaful Ikhlas General. Meanwhile, Zakat Melaka and Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan (ZAPAR) each received RM51,622.80 in zakat contributions from Takaful Ikhlas Family.
