SEPANG: Enhanced traffic control, shuttle services and crowd management measures are being put in place for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) said the measures followed challenges experienced by some fans travelling to and from the circuit on Friday, particularly during the evening departure period.
In a statement, the circuit operator advised fans attending the weekend race to plan their journeys and refer to the latest travel information on its official social media channels.
Fans are advised to follow the directions of officials and on-ground signage, as traffic arrangements might be adjusted according to prevailing conditions, Bernama reported.
SIC is hosting the relocated F1 race from Oct 2 to 4.
On Friday, several ticket holders took to social media to voice their frustration over severe gridlock when exiting the circuit, with some reporting lengthy waits for shuttle buses connecting parking areas and public transport hubs.
In another statement, Rapid KL said it had improved the coordination of its shuttle bus services to the venue.
The public transport operator said the shuttle bus services had been provided as planned, in line with the operational arrangements agreed with the organiser.
“Following the feedback received, Rapid KL, together with SIC and the relevant agencies, has made improvements to the passenger pick-up and drop-off arrangements.
“These improvements have been implemented from today to ensure smoother and more orderly passenger movement,” Rapid KL said yesterday.
Rapid KL said its shuttle bus operations covered the management and movement of buses and passengers according to the stipulated arrangements, while overall traffic coordination to and from SIC, as well as vehicle flow management at passenger pick-up and drop-off areas, was coordinated with the event organiser and relevant agencies.
It also assured that it would continue working closely with all parties to ensure smooth operations and passenger movement throughout the event.
“Rapid KL appreciates the patience, cooperation and feedback from passengers in helping us improve the travel experience throughout the event,” it added.
