Man killed, woman seriously injured in Taiping motorcycle crash


IPOH: A 76-year-old man died, and a 69-year-old woman was seriously injured on Sunday (Oct 4) after the motorcycle they were riding skidded at Kampung Boyan in Taiping.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call was received at 12:41 p.m., with firefighters arriving at Lorong Kampung Boyan 1 six minutes later.

"The motorcycle skidded and came to a stop near a drain in front of a house," Sabarodzi said in a statement. "Rescuers found the elderly man unconscious, while the woman had sustained severe head injuries."

A Ministry of Health medical officer confirmed the man was dead at the scene. His body was handed over to the police for further action.

The injured woman received initial medical treatment on-site before being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
