27 houses in Kubang pasu villages hit by floods

ALOR SETAR: Twenty-seven houses in four villages in Kubang Pasu district were flooded following heavy rain on Friday (Oct 2).

Kubang Pasu Civil Defence Officer Capt (PA) Mohd Adenin Suhaimi said, however, no temporary relief centre (PPS) had been opened so far.

He said water levels at all affected locations were showing a downward trend and the current weather was reported to be dry.

"The affected mukim are Naga, Laka and Temin, with 13 locations affected.

"In Kampung Changkat Sentol, eight houses were affected and all the victims have left their homes and are temporarily staying with relatives or at homestays.

"Six houses were affected in Kampung Sungai Petani, five in Kampung Padang and eight in Kampung Belukar,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 3).

He said five Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel were deployed to the affected locations for initial monitoring following the incident, which was reported at 5pm Friday.

"Although the situation is improving, APM personnel remain at the locations to conduct continuous monitoring and are on standby to deal with any eventuality,” he said. — Bernama
