> A girl from Johor Baru with a rare congenital heart condition has to be closely monitored as a mere cough or fever would require medical attention.
Nur Diayana Mohd Azahar, 34, said her daughter Nur Auni Mardhiyah Ahmad Hanafi, 11, had low oxygen levels and would tire easily, Harian Metro reported.
“Whenever she has symptoms such as a cough or fever, we immediately take her to a clinic to prevent any risks,” she said.
Auni has ectopia cordis in which the heart develops outside the chest cavity.
She also has a cleft palate and a skull defect.
Doctors have advised against surgery to reposition her heart due to the risks involved.
