F1 Bahrain GP to be aired live on RTM, says Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2026 Formula 1 (F1) Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix (GP) in Malaysia, which begins tomorrow, will be broadcast live via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this move would allow the excitement of the world-class race to be shared and enjoyed by all citizens across the country.

"Great news for all Malaysians! RTM will broadcast the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia in 2026 live so that the excitement of this race can be enjoyed together.

"I hope this live broadcast gives people in every corner of the country the opportunity to experience the thrill of the world-class race from the Sepang International Circuit (SIC),” he said in a Facebook post.

The 2026 F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP race will take place at SIC from tomorrow until Sunday.

Yesterday, Anwar participated in the Pit Lane Walk held in conjunction with the race and discussed the hosting preparations with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

SIC was selected to host the 2026 F1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP, making the iconic circuit the temporary venue for the prestigious Bahraini race.

In July, Formula 1 confirmed Malaysia as the host for the race from Oct 2 to 4, following an agreement between Formula 1, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain. - Bernama
