Man shot at Bidor petrol station


IPOH: A 41-year-old man was injured when two gunmen opened fire at a vehicle at a petrol station in Bidor town.

He was a passenger of a white Toyota Land Cruiser, having arrived at the station to refuel, when a black Honda City, travelling from the direction of Bidor, stopped by.

“Two men, who had firearms, got out of the vehicle and fired several shots before fleeing,” said Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin.

He said the victim sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, adding that his condition was stable.

There were five other people inside the vehicle but they were unhurt, he said in a statement about the shooting which took place at 6.08pm on Tuesday.

The victim was initially treated at Hospital Tapah before being referred to a hospital in Ipoh and later transferred to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun here.

Comm Mohd Alwi said police forensic personnel at the scene recovered a 9mm Luger bullet, four 9mm Luger casings and bullet fragments.

He said several bullet fragments and bullet marks were also found on the vehicle.

“Police are reviewing CCTV recordings from several locations, including routes around Bidor and identified toll plazas, to assist in identifying the suspects,” he said.
