KOTA KINABALU: A senior citizen leaving a clinic in Tawau is believed to have accidentally crashed into a shoplot, damaging his own car and another vehicle.
The 60-year-old was said to have just received outpatient treatment and was preparing to go home at around 3.30pm on Tuesday (Sept 29), according to police.
"At first, he was said to have driven his car into the shop, and he panicked and reversed into a nearby vehicle when he tried to move away," Tawau OCPD Asst Comm Rosdi Mat Jusoh said on Wednesday (Sept 30).
He added that a breathalyser and drug test were administered on the man, and both yielded negative results.
The senior citizen, who was unhurt, was then taken to the police station to be questioned under the Road Transport Act 1987, he said.
ACP Rosdi urged any witnesses to contact investigating officer Sjn Mohd Hanafiah Mat Sari at 019-8867715 or go to the nearest police station.
He advised the public to be alert when driving and to make sure that their vehicles are in good condition.
