KOTA KINABALU: A man is believed to have inflicted self-harm after allegedly murdering his wife at a workers’ quarters in Tawau.
OCPD Asst Comm Rosdi Mat Jusoh said a 38-year-old Indonesian labourer was found injured with wounds on his throat on Monday (Sept 28).
The man's 37-year-old wife was also found unconscious with multiple wounds on her head, neck and arms at Lahad Felda Umas 6 on Kalabakan Road, he added.
"We received a call at 4.55pm and a team was sent to investigate," ACP Rosdi said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 30).
He said medical officials later pronounced the woman dead.
"The man was taken to hospital for treatment and is reported in stable condition," he said, adding that the man is the main suspect.
ACP Rosdi said the couple had just returned from a short holiday and were said to have been in a heated argument on the day of the incident.
However, the full story has yet to be uncovered, he added.
A stick and a sickle were recovered at the scene and brought back to the police station.
ACP Rosdi said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and also the Immigration Act 1959/63.
