SANDAKAN: A 63-year-old woman was found in a semi-conscious state after being trapped inside a condominium lift for more than an hour following a power disruption on Monday (Sept 28).
The woman was found weak and lying on the floor of the lift when rescuers gained access to her.
According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, witnesses believed she had been trapped on the fifth floor of Sri Indah Condominium at Batu 4 here since about 7.07pm.
The department received an emergency call at 8.04pm and six firefighters from the Sandakan fire station reached the condominium six minutes later.
By the time firefighters arrived, the building's maintenance personnel were working to open the lift doors.
The doors were successfully opened at 8.14pm.
The woman was subsequently handed over to Health Ministry personnel and taken to Sandakan Hospital for further treatment.
The operation, led by PBK I Mohd Shahril Akmal, ended at 8.35pm after rescuers confirmed there were no further hazards at the scene.
Police and Health Ministry personnel were also present.
