PETALING JAYA: Former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has expressed sadness over the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, saying he and his wife Ho Ching would remember her fondly.
“I was saddened to learn of the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
"I have known Tun Siti Hasmah for many years.
"Ho Ching and I will remember Tun Siti Hasmah fondly,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Sept 28).
Lee extended his deepest condolences to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family during this difficult time.
Dr Mahathir served as Malaysia’s prime minister from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020, while Lee served as Singapore’s prime minister from 2004 to 2024.
Dr Siti Hasmah, Dr Mahathir’s wife, died at the age of 100 on Monday (Sept 28).
She was known for her contributions to public health, women's welfare and various social causes.
