IPOH: Several stray dogs were found dead with foam around their mouths along Desa Rishah Indah here.
Housewife G. Mageswary, 57, who is a community feeder, said that she was shocked to discover three stray dogs lying dead on Saturday (Sept 26) at about 7.30am.
“This place is close to my house. When I came here looking for the dogs, they did not come as usual.
“Upon searching the area, I found three dogs dead with foam around their mouth, including a pregnant dog,” she said when contacted.
She said that there were about nine stray dogs in the area and that she had been feeding them for the past six years.
“I am still looking for the other dogs and I hope that they are unharmed,” she said.
She said she had buried two of the dogs at the site, while another was buried elsewhere by someone else.
She suspects that the dogs may have been poisoned and this was the first time such an incident has occurred.
Mageswary said the dogs were tame and friendly and did not usually pose a threat to people.
“They would only bark when strangers passed by, but they would not chase anyone.
"They would eat and then go into the new housing project site to rest," she said.
“Some of these dogs were abandoned here by people, while others came from other areas,” she added.
When contacted, Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Najib Hamzah said that police had not received any information or reports regarding the matter.
He said officers had gone to the location and no such incident was found.
