KOTA BARU: Two women have been injured after an ambulance suffered brake failure and crashed into two cars at Simpang Tiga Kampung Neting, Jalan Kota Bharu-Pengkalan Kubor in Tumpat.
Tumpat OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Khairi Shafie said the incident occurred at 1.15pm on Thursday (Sept 17) when the ambulance heading to Pengkalan Kubor from Kelaboran, driven by a 43-year-old man, experienced brake failure.
"The ambulance went out of control and collided with a car driven by a 33-year-old woman and another car driven by a 29-year-old woman heading from Kota Baru.
He said the driver of the first car suffered an injury to her head, while the second driver sustained injuries to her left knee," he said in a statement on Thursday.
He added that both victims were taken to Tumpat Hospital, while the ambulance driver was unhurt.
Mohd Khairi said the ambulance driver tested negative for drugs.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigations were underway to ascertain the cause of the crash. – Bernama
