PETALING JAYA: Air quality worsened across the country on Tuesday (Sept 15), with 40 of 68 monitoring stations recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings at 2pm on Tuesday (Sept 15).
According to the Environment Department's Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims), Johan Setia in Selangor recorded the highest reading at 187.
Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and IPD Serian in Sarawak followed at 176 each, while Nilai in Negri Sembilan recorded 174.
Putrajaya, Shah Alam in Selangor and Tangkak in Johor each registered 172, followed by Seremban at 171.
Pasir Gudang recorded 167, while Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur and Indera Mahkota Kuantan in Pahang stood at 166 each. Klang recorded 165.
Another 28 stations nationwide recorded moderate air quality.
The latest figures mark a sharp deterioration from Monday (Sept 14), when 23 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy air quality at 6pm.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
