PUTRAJAYA: The delayed distribution of Baja 3 fertiliser to padi farmers in the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (Mada) area will be resolved immediately, with delivery of the remaining stock set to begin today, says Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu (pic).
He said delivery of the remaining supply was expected to be completed within 10 days.
“On Aug 27, I submitted a letter to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim requesting that Taveekun Manufacturing Sdn Bhd’s services be terminated following the delay.
“At the same time, I proposed that Malaysian NPK Fertilizer Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the National Farmers’ Organisation, be tasked with completing the remaining supply of Baja 3 to the affected padi farmers,” he said yesterday.
Mohamad said Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, had agreed to the proposal, allowing delivery of the remaining Baja 3 supply to the affected padi farmers to begin today, Bernama reported.
He said Mada had also been instructed to closely monitor the delivery process to ensure the supply reached the farmers.
Mohamad said the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry would not compromise with any party that failed to fulfil its responsibilities in a way that affected padi farmers and the smooth running of the country’s food production sector.
