PETALING JAYA: A daughter is desperately searching for her mother, who has been uncontactable since Wednesday (Aug 26) after travelling to Nepal for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage.
According to Dharaniya Rajan, she was last in contact with her mother, S. Gomathi, at 8.59am (Malaysia time) on Aug 26.
She said her mother had also told her about a landslide and that their group was moving earlier towards the Tibet/China border.
“The latest information we have is a photo taken at around 10am (Malaysia time) on Aug 26 at the Nepal-Tibet/China immigration checkpoint/building.
“The last traceable locations of some of the group members’ phones were also around the same area.
“We have had no contact with her since,” she said in a social media post.
Dharaniya also said she had already contacted Wisma Putra, the Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu, Nepal Tourist Police, the Embassy of India in Beijing as well as the Nepal emergency authorities.
“If any Malaysians, Nepalis, rescue personnel, local authorities or anyone in the area has any information about this group, please send me a message urgently.
“Please keep my mum and everyone affected in your prayers.
“Any information or sharing would mean so much to us,” she said.
Over 50 Malaysians in the country have been uncontactable since the floods.
On Thursday, Nepal police released the names of those missing in the catastrophe, including foreign nationals.
The massive flooding near the border with Tibet has killed almost 400 people in Nepal.
