AYER KEROH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim represents Malaysia on the global stage, and his diplomatic leadership should not be undermined by domestic political disputes, says PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Speaking during her winding-up speech at the 2026 PKR National Congress on Sunday (Aug 16), Nurul Izzah stressed that the country faces more pressing national priorities than internal political bickering.
“The reality is that the Prime Minister represents our voice. He is speaking on the international stage. If you do not like him, fine, switch off the television, but do not deny his sacrifices or deny his role,” she said.
Nurul Izzah drew a distinction between valid political feedback and unfounded personal attacks, stating that while constructive criticism is acceptable, malicious defamation driven by partisan jealousy is not.
“Be decent. You want to criticise, I criticise too if he is wrong. But if you defame, you are being malicious,” she said.
She added that Muslim minority communities globally look up to Malaysia as a beacon of stability and economic progress, emphasising the need for domestic unity to maintain the nation's standing abroad.
“Wherever I go, Muslims around the world who live as minorities in their countries look to us and hope that Malaysia is united. They want Malaysia to succeed,” she said.
