AYER KEROH: The cooperation between PKR, DAP and Amanah is exceptionally solid, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Speaking at the PKR National Congress on Sunday (Aug 16), Anwar, who is also PKR president, said there were some concerns over purported tensions between the Pakatan Harapan coalition partners.
“I understand this because, based on my own experience, when we are friends, we should remain friends built on trust and confidence. We should not have any other agenda. Even if we feel there is a new strategy that we want to modify, we have discussed these matters extensively with DAP and Amanah within Pakatan Harapan. I will convey those views,” said Anwar, who is also Pakatan chairman.
"What has happened over the past few months is that there have been several surprising decisions that were not communicated to us. Their explanation was that these were strategies to consolidate their respective parties. That is their right. We should not question it.”
He added that the convention of any coalition must be based on consensus, proper consultation and mutual respect.
"The cooperation between PKR, DAP and Amanah is exceptionally strong and solid,” he added.
He said campaign messages against DAP do not trouble Pakatan, adding that the coalition was loyal to the struggle.
“I then told Anthony Loke (DAP secretary-general) that, generally, throughout the campaign, the message was: “Anwar is fine, but it is DAP (that's the problem),” he said.
"That does not trouble us. We remain loyal to the struggle, and we have accepted everyone within this broad embrace,” he added.
DAP’s congress is currently underway in Putrajaya, where the party will decide on whether it will stay or leave the unity government.
