KUALA LUMPUR: Five Chinese nationals were detained in connection with several house break-ins in the city.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus said the male suspects, aged between 38 and 58, were arrested during operations conducted in Sri Petaling and Pudu at about 9.30pm on Aug 9.
"The arrests followed a house-breaking incident at a residence in Taman Desa Petaling here on Aug 4, in which the victim suffered losses estimated at RM6,000.
“The losses involved cash, jewellery and a branded sling bag,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 12).
Comm Fadil said police acted on information and intelligence gathered following the report before launching the two raids.
"During the operations, we seized a vehicle and various equipment believed to have been used in house break-ins.
"We also recovered items belonging to the complainant, along with other luxury goods including watches, wallets and cash in various foreign currencies amounting to more than RM10,000," he said.
Initial investigations also found that the suspects were allegedly involved in two other house-breaking cases reported in the Cheras area, he added.
"The five suspects have been remanded from Aug 10 to Aug 13 to assist investigations," he added.
