MELAKA: Former assemblyman Datuk Norhizam Hassan Baktee has announced his intention to contest in the upcoming state election on a political party's ticket, though he declined to name the party or constituency until nomination day.
Dubbed "YB Hulk" following a viral video of a heated exchange with villagers in 2018, Norhizam insisted he remains "battle-ready" to serve voters who have urged him to return.
He added that he has continued to assist the community using his own funds since leaving office.
Norhizam, a former DAP lawmaker, served as a Melaka executive councillor under Pakatan Harapan (PH) from 2018 until March 2020, when he left DAP as an independent, triggering the fall of the PH state government.
In October 2021, he was one of four assemblymen who withdrew support for the subsequent government, prompting a snap state election in November 2021. The seat was won by Barisan Nasional's Datuk Kalsom Nordin.
