PUTRAJAYA: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) has opened investigations into the persons identified in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji.
In a statement, LHDN said a tax risk analysis found discrepancies between their declared incomes and asset holdings.
“Our officers raided several related premises to gather information, examine documents and verify facts relevant to the investigations.
“We wish to clarify that all reviews and investigations are conducted professionally, with integrity and in accordance with existing tax laws, without prejudice against any party.
“Further action will be determined only after assessing the information and evidence obtained during the review,” LHDN said, Bernama reported.
On July 29, the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) published on its website the 211-page RCI report on Tabung Haji’s management and operations between 2014 and 2020.
On July 31, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said a special parliamentary sitting to debate the findings of the RCI report on Tabung Haji will be held on Aug 11.
