Malaysian silambam athletes bag 16 golds

EXPONENTS of the silambam martial art from Persatuan Silambam Korvai Malaysia won 16 gold medals at an international competition in Penang, Makkal Osai reported.

The International Silambam Championship 2026 at Universiti Sains Malaysia featured 355 martial artistes from 11 countries.

Korvai Malaysia founder Grandmaster Kalaimamani Dr K. Anbalahan thanked and congratulated the parents of the athletes who’s sacrifice and support was critical in the students’ success.

Kashmira Sheikh, 36, went to a local branch of the Punjab National Bank to check her balance.

However, she was stunned when the bank officials told her she had 999,999,997 rupees in her account instead.

Realising a mistake the bank suspended her account, leaving the her in limbo. Bank officials said the matter was under review.
