KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has congratulated national track cycling star Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang on winning the gold medal in the men's keirin event at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Saturday (Aug 1).
In a Facebook post on Saturday, Fahmi described the cyclist, affectionately known as "The Pocket Rocketman", as a source of immense pride for all Malaysians.
"No words can adequately describe how proud we are to witness the achievements of this remarkable individual.

"For years, he has carried Malaysia's name on the global stage -- overcoming setbacks, making remarkable comebacks, and never once knowing the meaning of surrender. Congratulations, Dato' Azizul," he wrote.
Earlier, Mohd Azizulhasni claimed the gold medal in the men's keirin final at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow on Friday night (Scotland time).
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist finished ahead of Australia's Leigh Hoffman and England's Harry Ledingham-Horn, who took silver and bronze, respectively.
Meanwhile, fellow Malaysian rider Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom finished the race in seventh place. – Bernama
