PORT DICKSON: The spirit of cooperation must be retained if Malaysia is to continue progressing and developing as a country, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The Prime Minister urged the rakyat to continue giving the current administration the opportunity to serve the rakyat well.
“Give us the chance to continue serving. We have a stable government and we have many things we intend to continue, with the priority being to uplift the rakyat,” he said when officiating the state-level Sahabat Usahawan Madani carnival here on Friday (July 31).
Anwar also said due consideration should be given for the current Negri Sembilan administration as this allows for better cooperation with the Federal Government.
“It is easy for us to discuss as we are friends. We can sit together and negotiate or even argue, but at the end of the day we are allies,” he said.
Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, added that he will personally ensure special attention is given to Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia.
“As long as I continue having the responsibility to lead the country, I will never forget Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia’s role, with attention given during annual budgets,” he said.
He also said that the welfare of small businesses must never be overlooked.
“If we want to help, we should not only look at those around us but those further away, especially those who find it difficult to speak or meet us, yet need our help.
The Prime Minister also urged the rakyat not to judge promises made by certain quarters during election periods but instead by what has been done.
“Since 2023, we have paid attention to the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia. These were not for the current state elections.
“That is how the Madani administration operates. Choose leaders that walk the talk instead of only making promises,” he said.
