MELAKA: Emergency services rescued three stranded family members, including a four-month-old infant, following flash floods caused by continuous heavy rainfall across Melaka Tengah and Jasin districts.
Firefighters from the Tangga Batu station responded to an emergency call at 9.47am regarding trapped residents in Kampung Lereh, Tanjung Kling. Rescuers evacuated a 37-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, and an infant from their inundated home, concluding operations at 10.36am.
Continuous heavy rainfall starting around 1.00am triggered flash floods in multiple hotspot areas across both districts. Melaka Civil Defence Force Director Lieutenant Colonel Kamarulsyah Muslim reported that 15 evacuees relocated to two temporary relief centres by 3.00pm.
Flooding in Melaka Tengah affected Kampung Lereh, Peringgit, Kampung Bachang, Kampung Kolam Limbongan, Tengkera, Bukit Rambai, Tanjung Kling, and Pengkalan Perigi. Affected areas in Jasin included Kampung Pulai, Kampung Serkam, and Kampung Bukit Tembakau.
