Cops seeking witnesses to fatal hit-and-run on Kajang highway

KAJANG: The police are seeking witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at KM13.0 of the Cheras-Kajang Expressway.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said the incident occurred at about 10pm on Monday (July 6).

"Initial investigations found that the driver of a silver multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) had stopped at the left side of the road after one of the vehicle’s tyres went flat.

"The driver, who was travelling with five passengers, had finished changing the tyre and then moved to the rear of the vehicle to remove a bucket that had been placed on the road as a warning sign for other motorists.

"While removing the bucket, the victim was hit by a red MPV, which fled the scene without stopping," he said in a statement on Tuesday (July 7).

The 46-year-old local man, who was the driver of the silver MPV, was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"We urge anyone with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Nur Faezah Mohd Zakria at 012-3268496," he said.
