Motorcyclist killed in three-vehicle collision on Pasir Gudang highway

JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist died on the spot after he was involved in an accident with a motorcycle and a lorry at KM7.6 of the Pasir Gudang Highway towards Larkin.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffie said the incident happened at 7.17am on Monday (July 6).

“The 48-year-old Malaysian working as a forklift operator in Singapore was on his way to work when he was involved in the accident,’’ he said in a statement.

ACP Azrul Hisham said preliminary investigation found the victim believed to have ridden his motorcycle in between vehicles at the scene.

He said the victim lost control of the machine and brushed into a motorcycle ahead of him, ridden by a 51-year-old man.

“This caused the 48-year-old victim to fall under a lorry which was on the left lane of the highway before being run over by the lorry,’’ added ACP Azrul Hisham.

He said the victim suffered from severe body injuries and was declared dead at the site, and the 51-year-old motorcyclist injured his right arm and right leg, while the lorry driver escaped unhurt.

ACP Azrul Hisham said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) and the lorry driver tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

He called upon those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Zulpaka Bambo at mobile number 014-886 1791, or come forward to the Johor South Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department to assist with investigation.
